Smiles and lively conversations created a wonderful atmosphere at the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium 29th Anniversary Gala Reception that was held on Friday, March 18, 2011. Each year SFCCC honors, with an award, a health care advocate who has championed the community-based clinics and the patients they serve. This year the Honoree was California State Assemblymember Tom Ammiano. The Assemblymember is one of the co-founders of Healthy San Francisco. He created the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance that evolved into what is now Healthy San Francisco. That program established San Francisco as the first city in America to provide universal health care access and a model in the country.
