Patients at Rally on MLK Weekend Tell Compelling Stories of How the ACA Has Saved Lives

While Congress took preliminary steps to repeal aspects of the Affordable Care Act without a new plan to protect millions of Americans, including those with pre-existing conditions,  a rally held at San Francisco City Hall on Sunday January 15, 2017 focused on the impact on patients.   A single mom spoke about getting cancer treatments that kept her alive and able to care for her child when she received an ovarian cancer diagnosis in her early 40's.  Another mother spoke about her son, a previously healthy medical student, who had a stroke at age 25 and would not have received life saving treatment without the ACA provision that allowed her to keep him on her insurance.
