Happy New Year! One of the first important events in the health policy world in the new year will be the release of the Governor's Proposed Budget on or before January 10, 2017. Since Federal funds comprise over one-third of California's state budget, Governor Brown and his staff are in the unenviable position of trying to predict what the President-Elect will do with critical programs. According to the California Budget Project (see below) more than seven in ten Federal dollars spent through the State budget support health and human services.
