Congresswoman Speier has always been an outstanding champion of the community-based health centers and the uninsured, low-income, working poor and homeless patients they serve. She was recently honored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) with the “2010 Community Health Defender Award” for her work to successfully increase the number of community health centers around the country. The national award is given each year to members of Congress who have worked to successfully increase community health centers that provide quality primary health care to medically uninsured and underserved people.
SFCCC is pleased and proud to join in the acknowledgement of her outstanding leadership in expanding health care access to millions of patients.
