PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Per Diem Physician is responsible for the provision of primary and urgent health care to adult and/or pediatric patients as appropriate.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Sees patients in the clinic during normal drop-in and appointment hours.
2. Monitors medical treatment given to assure quality care and follow-up care meets standards of care for the practice; keeps accurate and complete medical records.
3. Coordinates referrals to and/or follow up at other health care facilities, e.g. SFGH, UCSF, and other health clinics.
4. Consults with Medical Director on clinical aspects of patient care when needed.
5. Assumes responsibility for prescribing medication in compliance with state/federal law.
6. Serves as a medical consultant for clinic staff and students as appropriate.
7. Serves as an active member of the clinic interdisciplinary team.
8. Attends and participates in all appropriate and required meetings on and off site.
9. Acts as Doctor of Day as appropriate and when assigned.
10. Provides morning and lunchtime emergency coverage as appropriate and when assigned.
11. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine.
2. Successful completion of internship and residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with Board certification/eligibility in respective field.
3. Licensed by the California Board of Medical Examiners.
4. Bi-lingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or another Asian language required
5. Minimum CPR certification.
6. Has a proven track record of established clinical skills; prefer minimum of 2 years experience.
7. Committed to the preservation of appropriate health care to the uninsured and inner-city poor.
8. Ability to work effectively with a team.
9. Must have strong organizational and communication skills, including an excellent ability to speak clearly and to be understood in English.
