Job Description:

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the supervision of the Medical Director and direct supervision of the Doctor of the Day, the Per Diem Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the provision of primary and urgent health care for adult and/or pediatric patients.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  1. Sees patients in the clinic during normal drop-in and appointment hours.
  2. Monitors medical treatment given to assure quality care and follow-up care meets standards of care for the practice; keeps accurate and complete medical records.
  3. Coordinates referrals to and/or follow up at other health care facilities, e.g. SFGH, UCSF, and other health clinics.
  4. Consults with Medical Director on clinical aspects of patient care when needed.
  5. Assumes responsibility for prescribing medication in compliance with state/federal law.
  6. Serves as an active member of the clinic interdisciplinary team.
  7. Serves as a medical consultant for clinic staff and students as appropriate.
  8. Attends and participates in all appropriate and required meetings on and off site.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possession of a valid California license as a Registered Nurse and Certification by the State of California, Board of Registered Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner
  2. Possession of, or the ability to apply for, a Furnishing Number from the State of California, Board of Registered Nursing.
  3. Bi-lingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or another Asian language required
  4. CPR certification.
  5. Committed to the preservation of appropriate health care to the uninsured and inner-city poor.
  6. Have a proven track record of established clinical skills, prefer a minimum of 2 years experience.
  7. Ability to work effectively with a team.
  8. Must have strong organizational and communication skills, including an excellent ability to speak clearly and to be understood in English.
  9. Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and to the preservation of appropriate health care to the uninsured and poor.
