Nancy Pelosi on sequestration's impact on health and science in San Francisco

John Gressman, President and CEO of the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium, spoke at a press conference Friday at UCSF with Democratic Leader of the House of Representative Nancy Pelosi and other local leaders in health and science.  The event focused on the harmful impacts of sequestration on patients, scientific research, and innovative businesses.  Mr. Gressman spoke of the damage that would come from community clinics telling individual low income San Franciscans that they would have to “wait in line” for care because of Federal inaction.  Both Mr. Gressman and other leaders spoke of the damage caused by sequestration coming on top of many other cuts over the past several years.  In her remarks, Speaker Pelosi stressed that she saw community health centers of the foundation of the health care system.
