SFCCC Receives Grant from The Safeway Foundation

SFCCC is pleased to announce that we have received a grant of $5,000 from The Safeway Foundation. The Safeway Foundation awards grants in the areas of hunger relief, education, people with disabilities and health and human services. This grant will be used for the Street Outreach Services (SOS) mobile medical van program for the homeless. Last year SOS provided over 1,000 homeless people with 2,010 service visits, including 920 physician and nurse practitioner medical visits, 680 case management sessions, 382 health education sessions, and 28 nursing visits. The urgent and preventive medical care provided by SOS, to homeless people where they are on the streets of San Francisco, leads to fewer emergency room visits and costly hospital stays.
