SOS/VET SOS Appreciation Reception Held on Oct. 16

SFCCC hosted a reception on the evening of Oct. 16, to recognize and express our gratitude for the many volunteers and community partners of Street Outreach Services (SOS) and Veterinary Street Outreach Services (VET SOS).  SOS volunteers provide urgent medical care, case management, health education, and outreach to homeless San Franciscans, in locations where they live and congregate.  VET SOS volunteers provide veterinary care to the companion animals of homeless people, while encouraging them to also seek care for their own health needs.  Both SOS & VET SOS make referrals to SFCCC community partners for additional needed services.

John Gressman, SFCCC’s President & CEO, welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their volunteer and community service.  Three special honorees were recognized:  Mary Mays, Nurse Practitioner with SF Health Department’s Tom Waddell Health Center;  Loretta Miranda, Outreach Worker with Friendship House Association of American Indians;  and Ilana Strubel, DVM and founder of VET SOS.

SFCCC truly appreciates the volunteers and community partners who contribute so much to the success of its SOS program and VET SOS project!
