Unfavorable Ruling on President Obama's Proposed Step Forward for Immigrant Families

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals finally has issued a decision in Texas v. U.S., the case that put President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA)  and expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiatives on hold. Unfortunately, the court ruled that it will not reverse the Texas federal district court decision that blocks the DAPA and expanded DACA initiatives from going forward.  This means DAPA and expanded DACA continue to be blocked.  Advocates for immigrant families are hoping that the Obama administration chooses to immediately appeal this decision.
