Women's Equality Day

SFCCC staff joined many other San Franciscan's at an event sponsored by House Leader Nancy Pelosi.  We heard moving stories of obstacles and proposed solutions to many problems faced by working women, including unequal pay, a lack of sick days to care for ill children, and domestic violence. A 27 year old breast cancer survivor diagnosed between finishing graduate school and starting a new job stressed the importance of  California's Breast and Cervical Treatment Program and the Medi-Cal program and the staff at Planned Parenthood who helped her connect to these resources.  She also noted that due to the Affordable Care Act, she does not have to worry about having a pre-existing condition as she moves on with her life .
