SF Health Leaders Support the Sugar Sweetened Beverage Tax

A recent meta analysis of many studies on the impact of sugar sweetened beverages concludes that there is a demonstrated direct dose-response relationship between sugar sweetened beverages and long term weight gain and risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

SFCCC supports the sugar sweetened beverage tax in order to discourage consumption of these beverages in favor of healthier foods and drinks AND to generate much needed funds for community and school based health programs that promote active living and healthy eating.
